Critter Korner: Foxes

The Red coat residents :  Our neighborhood’s newest four legged neighbors

If you haven’t noticed we have two new neighbors but these aren’t your ordinary neighbors, these are the furry kind: foxes! Not long ago I was walking and came across a fox swiftly passing by. The next day two foxes were seen trotting together in the campground near Pine Lane.  There have been numerous sightings of these creatures. What were they doing you ask?  There are a few possibilities, they could be looking for a snack or they could be seeking new territory.  Now I had to investigate, and as I was walking through the campground I came across some paw prints possibly from foxes, as well as what appeared to be a half eaten egg, which are often eaten by foxes (see photo below)

Safety Section

Safety is important especially with our new furry friends, here are a few guidelines for coexisting with these creatures:

  • Keep a eye on any small pets especially at dawn and dusk.

  • If you have chickens make sure the coop is secure and safe.

  • If you see our furry friend do not approach instead watch from afar.

  • And lastly but just as important, do not feed our new furry friends
