1 BOX OF ZITTI
1 PACKAGE OF SHREDDED PARMESAN
1 PACKAGE OF SHREDDED MOZZARELLA
1 LB SWEET ITALIAN SAUSAGE CUT OR BROKEN INTO SMALL PIECES
2 – 4 TBS BUTTER
¼ CUP FLOUR
1 ½ CUPS MILK OR HALF AND HALF
1 CLOVE OF MINCED GARLIC
COOK THE ZITTI PER THE INSTRUCTIONS
BROWN/COOK THE SAUSAGE
MAKE A WHITE SAUCE
IN A MEDIUM SIZE SAUCE PAN MELT THE BUTTER OVER LOW HEAT
ADD IN THE GARLIC, COOK 1/2 MINUTE
BLEND IN THE FLOUR TO MAKE A RUE
SLOWLY ADD IN THE MILK, KEEP STIRRING UNTIL THE MIXTURE THICKENS
IF THE SAUCE GETS TOO THICK THIN WITH MILK OR WATER
GREASE 9X13 BAKING DISH
PUT IN ½ OF THE ZITTI
LAYER WITH: ½ OF THE CHEESES, ½ OF THE SAUSAGE AND ½ OF THE WHITE SAUCE
PUT IN THE REMAINING ZITTI AND REPETE WITH THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS
DROP A FEW PIECES OF COLD BUTTER ON TOP
COVER WITH ALUMINUM FOIL AND BAKE 45 MINUTES AT 350 (I REMOVE THE FOIL AND ADD SOME CRUSHED CRACKERS ON TOP, COOK OR BROIL 30 SECONDS)
